      FACE & NECK LIFT BEFORE-AFTERS

      ARTISTRY, METICULOUS SURGICAL TECHNIQUE

At Sadrian Plastic Surgery, a large percentage of our facelift patients come to us through word-of-mouth. Why? Our founder, Dr. Sadrian, is a highly-skilled, board-certified San Diego plastic surgeon with another specialty certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

His artistry, meticulous surgical technique, and almost two decades in practice has given him the ability to create a very natural, fresh, youthful look. Tired of seeing sagging, aging skin, and want to look as young as you feel? We invite you to meet with us in a private consultation for a facelift in San Diego.

      STEP BY STEP FACIAL SURGERY

The operation may be carried out differently depending on the method adopted. It is around the ear and in the hair that the incision is made, so that it is the most hidden. The detachment is then carried out under the skin, the extent of which depends on the extent of the loosening of the tissues.

It begins in the temple, in the paw of the hair or below depending on the implantation of the hair, then walks in front of the ear, then in the ear, then in front of the earlobe, then behind the ear to end in the hair of the nape. The planes that will be retained are not necessarily only cutaneous, they can be more profound depending on the case as the muscular plane. In this stage facial tissues under the skin are reshaped with sutures.

The skin is then naturally retained, the excess is removed and the stitches are not strained. A bandage around the head is usually applied by surgeons.

        RECOVERY TIMELINE AFTER A FACELIFT

Healing from a facelift is a step-by-step journey, with noticeable improvements at each stage. Here’s a detailed timeline to guide your expectations:

        First Week:
Swelling and bruising will peak during the initial days but can be effectively managed with prescribed medications and cold compresses. It’s essential to rest with your head elevated and avoid strenuous activities. Short, gentle walks are encouraged to promote healthy circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots.
        Two Weeks:
Sutures or staples are typically removed, and noticeable swelling and bruising begin to subside. You can resume light activities, such as returning to work or social engagements, depending on your comfort level. Makeup may be used to conceal any residual discoloration.
        One Month:
By this stage, swelling significantly decreases, and your enhanced contours become more defined. Many patients feel confident going out without concealing their results. While most daily activities can be resumed, vigorous exercise and heavy lifting should still be avoided to ensure proper healing.
        Four to Six Weeks:
Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least six weeks after surgery. Short walks are encouraged to promote circulation, but activities like running, weightlifting, and intense workouts should wait until cleared by Dr. Sadrian.
        Three to Six Months:
Residual swelling continues to diminish, and scars gradually fade into discreet, nearly invisible lines. Your results will appear more natural and refined. You can confidently enjoy your rejuvenated, youthful appearance, knowing the most significant part of your recovery is complete.
        Long-Term Results
With proper skincare, a healthy lifestyle, and sun protection, your facelift results can last 10 to 15 years. Maintenance treatments such as non-surgical skin tightening or skincare regimens can also help extend your youthful appearance.

        FAQ

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions About Facelift Surgery Below

What if I need my forehead or eyelids addressed?

You have the option to undergo a brow lift or eyelid surgery along with your facelift, so your entire look is refreshed and rejuvenated.

Can a facelift help with marionette lines and laugh lines?

Yes, a facelift can significantly improve marionette lines and laugh lines (nasolabial folds). By lifting and repositioning the deeper facial tissues, a facelift smooths the lower face and reduces the appearance of deep creases around the mouth. In cases where lines are particularly etched, additional treatments like fat grafting or fillers can further soften them for a more comprehensive result.

Does a facelift change the way I smile or my facial expressions?

When performed by a skilled surgeon like Dr. Sadrian, a facelift enhances your natural appearance without changing the way you smile, laugh, or express yourself. Modern techniques focus on lifting the underlying structures rather than pulling the skin tight, which preserves your authentic facial expressions while creating a more refreshed, youthful look.

How do facelift techniques like SMAS and deep plane compare in terms of recovery and outcome?

Both SMAS and deep plane facelifts deliver excellent, natural-looking results, but they differ slightly. A SMAS facelift repositions the supportive tissue layer (the SMAS) for a lifted, rejuvenated look with moderate downtime. A deep plane facelift goes even deeper, releasing and repositioning the tissues beneath the SMAS layer. Deep plane facelifts often achieve more dramatic, longer-lasting, and softer results with less skin tension—and in many cases, patients report faster, more comfortable recovery because less skin is pulled tight.
