Now that tax season is out of the way, how are you going to spend your refund? According to a new report, many Americans are using at least part of their tax refund to invest in themselves by opting for a plastic surgery procedure.
In this issue, we’ll talk about the survey.
Many Americans Using Tax Refund For Plastic Surgery
Results from the survey, which are generating news stories across the country, show that about 36% of Americans plan to pay for a plastic surgery procedure with their tax refund. That’s a significant spike from the 13% who said the same thing last year.
However, breast augmentations and Brazilian butt lifts are also high on the list of procedures to be covered by people’s tax refunds.
What The People Are Saying
In an interview with a Tampa, Fla. TV station, a 42-year-old mother of two explained why she has turned to plastic surgery.
“Since I’ve gotten older, my neck has extra skin,” she said. “I lost fullness after having children, so I had fat taken from here and here and put here so that I had more fullness in back to give me more of a shape. I used to try and cover some areas but I like the way I look now.”
One plastic surgeon said that the fastest growing group of her customer base are millennials. “They take a lot of selfies, so they become more conscious of their facial profile. (The procedures) they’re choosing the most are chin augmentation, nose augmentation and lip augmentation,” she explained.
As for advice on which procedure someone should go with, the 42-year-old mother said, “…start with the feature you most want to improve. You have to love yourself before you do plastic surgery, then you’ll love yourself even more.”
