Reasons to Consider Rhinoplasty
Repairing Trauma Injuries
There are great reasons to consider having a rhinoplasty surgical procedure on your nose, including correcting defects after a trauma injury. A nasal trauma while participating in a sport such as hockey or football is very common. The nose protrudes from the face, making it the perfect target for damage to its sensitive tissues that contain many blood vessels. For older teenagers and adults, an injury to the nose can break the nasal bone in one or more places, making it difficult or impossible to breathe unless it is repaired promptly. While a child can often bump their nose without damage due to soft cartilage rather than hard bone tissue, other incidents can occur such as tears to the skin while riding a bicycle.
Fixing Congenital Defects
Adults and teenagers may begin to have constant sinus congestion or breathing difficulties because of a defect deeper inside the nose due to a poorly aligned septum or nasal passage. In addition to defects and injuries, a nose with an unusual shape or size may make an individual feel self-conscious or depressed, leading to isolation. Fortunately, cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Reza Sadrian can modify or repair the noses of children, teenagers and adults with rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is designed to make a patient’s nose more aesthetically pleasing while also maintaining or improving the function of the nose.
A Non-surgical Rhinoplasty
A non-surgical rhinoplasty is a simple procedure to fix mild problems temporarily with dermal fillers that are injected under the skin tissue of the nose. Eventually, the safe dermal fillers are absorbed into the body, requiring a new injection from a physician. Serious defects of the nose require invasive surgery with general and local anesthesia to ensure patients do not have discomfort from incisions. With modern surgical techniques, we can operate on a patient’s nose using incisions inside the nose or through the roof of the mouth.
Planning Safe Procedures
Medical images of the nose and face are necessary for Dr. Sadrian to plan a customized rhinoplasty procedure. In many cases, modern imaging is used to perform a rhinoplasty procedure. We analyze the interior and exterior of the nose, and plan a safe procedure to make it look natural in addition to having the correct functions.
The entire rhinoplasty surgery typically lasts up to four hours with patients requiring approximately five days of initial recovery time before sutures are removed. The protective wrappings are left on the patient’s nose for about one week, but bruising around the surgical site and near the eyes can take two weeks to disappear.
