What to Avoid After Breast Augmentation
For some, breast augmentation is a doorway to enhance self-image and confidence. For others, it can be a form of reconstruction after surgery or other conditions related to the breast. Whatever your reason, we’ll talk a bit in this article about what not to do after your breast augmentation procedure.
Breast Augmentation at a Glance
There are a host of ways that a breast augmentation can be performed so as to minimize the incision and give you a more balanced look. In most instances, implants or fat are placed directly under the breast tissue.
In addition to the reasons described above, other popular reasons for the procedure include adjusting the breast size after pregnancy and enhancement of breasts that are naturally small or for when one is bigger than the other.
Things to Avoid After Breast Augmentation
During the initial four weeks after your procedure, it will be tempting to jump right back into your daily routine. One of the reasons for this temptation is the relative ease of the technique – mostly done as an outpatient procedure.
You should remember, however, that the breast implants will be directly underneath your pectoralis muscle. With that in mind, for the next few weeks, you should avoid:
- Sleeping on your stomach
- Jumping, running and any other exercise that will make your breasts bounce
- Lifting your arms above your head or shoulders
- Wearing a push-up bra
