Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries among women for obvious reasons. Women often want to enhance their breast size to attain a curvaceous silhouette. The desire for a breast implant can be driven by several factors, such as the simple need to have larger breasts, recreate breasts after a mastectomy, or reverse the effects of weight changes, pregnancy, and age.
The implant size is one of the biggest considerations for breast augmentation. Breast implants come in various sizes, ranging from 80cc to 800cc. In recent years, surgeons have observed a trend towards women asking for increasingly bigger implants. This has raised some concerns amongst surgeons about the desire for bigger breasts. When it comes to breast implants, is there a limitation on the size? How big is too big?
To put it simply, there is a limit to how big you can go with breast implants. However, there isn’t one fixed limitation that applies across the board to everyone. Breast augmentation is an incredibly personalized procedure, and the possibilities depend entirely on your specific body measurements and anatomy. Without a consultation, there’s simply no way to determine the maximum limit on your breast implants.
Factors that Determine the Breast Implant Size
You must go through a detailed consultation with Dr. Sadrian to determine the ideal or maximum breast implant size for you. During your consultation, Dr. Sadrian will take several measurements of your body and examine your breasts to recommend the ideal implant size and determine the maximum size for you.
Your breast implant size and limitations depend on the following factors:
- Overall height
- Overall weight
- Chest height
- Chest width
- Breast dimensions
- Amount of breast tissues
- Base width of the breasts
- Skin quality
Breast Width and Natural Breast Tissues
From the aforementioned factors, the most important considerations are your breasts’ width and the amount of natural breast tissues. By measuring the width, Dr. Sadrian will determine the amount of skin available on each side of the breasts, which, in turn, allows him to select the ideal breast implants. These measurements allow you to get well-fitted implants that look natural without causing complications.
If you go beyond the surgeon’s recommendation, the implants could move sideways or below the breast folds. Overly large implants can also minimize sensitivity in your breasts and increase the risk of complications, such as capsular contracture and infections. Furthermore, you’ll also need surgeries to make your skin stretch beyond its optimal capacity to accommodate the implant, leading to further risks and complications.
Chest Width and Height
The surgeon will also consider your chest width and overall frame size to determine the biggest possible breast implant size. A patient with an A cup and a narrow chest can potentially scale up to a C/D cup with just 320cc. However, the same implant size might only help a patient with a C cup scale up to a D/DD cup. As such, the cubic centimeters don’t accurately correlate with cup sizes.
Your surgeon will carefully examine your breast tissues and take accurate measurements to recommend the ideal and the maximum possible implant size for you. Please schedule a consultation with Dr. Sadrian to discuss your implant sizes.
