PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are designed to revitalize and improve facial appearance and texture, by encouraging the body to heal itself from the inside out. Is PRP Safe? Yes. PRP injections are very safe and are associated with very few side effects. PRP is naturally found in the body, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction. In addition, the PRP procedure has a proven safety record, as it has been used successfully in sports medicine for years.
What is PRP?
PRP is naturally found in the body. It is accessed by drawing a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge at high speeds to separate the healing platelets and plasma from the rest of the blood cells.
By isolating the PRP, we increase its power. When we inject it back into the skin in areas that are showing signs of the aging process, it stimulates the production of fresh collagen and helps your body regenerate its healthy cells more quickly.
What are the Benefits ofPRP?
With PRP injections, you can win the fight against the aging process with cosmetic rejuvenation. Thanks to the healing properties of PRP, this treatment approach has the power to:
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- Address mild collagen and volume loss
- Minimize the appearance of crow’s feet and undereye circles
- Improve acne scars and texture issues
Understanding PRP, Platelet-Rich Plasma
What to expect during PRP Treatments
Your PRP injections will take place in one of our medical spa’s private treatment rooms. The entire appointment should last just 60 minutes – including the preparation process and the actual injections.
To begin, we will draw a small amount of blood – just enough to fill a syringe. We will then separate the PRP by placing your blood in a centrifuge and spinning it at high speeds. Once we have isolated the PRP, we will inject it directly into the areas of concern that need it most.
What To Expect After PRP Injections
You can expect some redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites after your PRP appointment. These effects are usually mild and should dissipate within one week. To support your skin in the meantime, we recommend moisturizing and applying sunscreen often. You will be free to return to work and resume your normal daily routine as soon as you’re comfortable being seen in public.
